Tourists from Ukraine
Every year a few million tourists from Ukraine come to Poland. According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, over 7.6 million Ukrainians visited Poland in 2014. In 2013, nearly 7 from 23 million Ukrainian tourists traveled to Poland preferring it to all other European destinations (including Russia). The overwhelming majority of them chose a private journey as a purpose of travel though organized and business tourism occupied an important place in the general structure of tourist traffic from Ukraine to Poland.
Nevertheless, we cannot deny the fact that the total volume of Ukrainian outbound tourism has decreased by 30-50% during the economic crisis and political instability. Also the outbound tourism got a blow from the sharp fall of hryvnia. Unfortunately, from 2013 to 2014 the number of organized tourists from Ukraine to Poland has decreased by almost 66% and it is likely that the trend will be observed in the nearest future.
Despite the difficult situation, Polish ski resorts remain a popular destination among Ukrainians (until recently they were in the top five in-demand destinations in the European segment). The most visited cities are Warsaw and Krakow, and the most popular Baltic resorts are located in Kołobrzeg region.
